Happy New Year

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. I am starting the new year with a new sense of commitment. Since September when our lives were interrupted by the flood scare, I have been re-engaging in working on our house.
In the next few months, I plan on completing at least two masterworks. Many daily paintings and more subject for my classes and workshop this year. Again, Happy New Year to all.

New Wave Art Palettes

A few weeks ago, I received an email from Kyle O"Brien at New Wave Art. I clicked on the link to be transported to a website where I saw the most wonderful artist palettes, handcrafted in Lancaster County, Pa.  Not only are the palettes beautiful, but very functional. All have a three point anchor design to create a very comfortable fit. Read more...

I met with Kyle at the Artisian Coffee Shop in Phoenixville, Pa.  Across the street is the theater from the 1959 movie, the
"Blob", Phoenixville's claim to fame, and that's another story.

Kyle invited me to his home where he had shelves of New Wave palettes. I immediately purchase four finished palettes, you can also buy unfinished palettes for a lesser price. And as for the prices, these palettes are very
reasonably priced. You may purchase them directly form the New Wave Art website.

So, I would like to give a big thumbs up and cannot wait to use my new palettes. The trouble is, I

cannot get myself to apply paint swathes on these beautiful palettes

. I'm considering hanging one on my wall as a piece of art.

The Next Big Thing

Lately, I have been having a problem with motivation. It seems that once my attention is reflected, like the recent flood scare and recovery, I loose my way with creating art. I am now in a process of trying to motivate myself to begin painting again on a daily basis.

Every morning I scan the internet searching for the one artist or work to take me to the next level of motivation and my desire to begin creating art again. I have never felt more distant than I have in the last few weeks. I know this block is temporary, A balancing act I have no cure for..except to search for the next big challenge.

Love for painting

My first post since the September flood. Everything is almost back to normal. I apologize for not posting during this month. It is not that I had nothing to say. I didn't think my small problems were relevant compared to the people who got hammered by the flood. It is important that I get all my repairs and maintenance in order before I can feel the muse. I started where I left off. A sister piece to "I Love Tootsie Roll". This daily painting is titled, "Love for Painting". Lolly-pop heart and artist brushes equals love for painting.

September Flood

It has been a real anxious week. The September flood that hit my community as left all the non-levee residents hammered. Most lost everything. We had moved all our furniture to the second floor in anticipation of a record flood at forty-one feet. Fortunately our house was spared. A complete evacuation on the Wyoming Valley in Pennsylvania effected over sixty-five thousand residents.
I really did not feel like painting with so much disaster around us, not did I feel I should blog until everyone began the long road back to recovery.
I though of making paintings of this disaster, somehow it felt insensitive to my neighbors outside the levee. Today was the first day I felt I should blog, tomorrow maybe a painting. I usually never get an artist block, last week was enough mental anguish to stop the muse.
Tonight on the news there were several uplifting stories of flood victims digging in and beginning the process of rebuilding their homes and life. As a former flood victim of the 1972 flood, time will heal.
Everyone will have a story to tell. Like AD and BC,

history and memories will be dated before the flood or after the flood.
